1st Lexapro Update - Feeling Poor

August 10, 2026··
taper update
Feeling poor. Been having bouts of nausea, headache, anxiety, depression, muscle aches, and flu-like symptoms. Went to 2.5 mg per day after taking one 5 mg pill per week for 3 weeks.

Hi Razor, I'm sorry for your symptoms. Doing a slow Hyperbolic taper is going to be best. You did a 50% reduction, which is very large. We don't recommend doing more than 10%. Please read about Hyperbolic tapering in the Resources section. In a nutshell, we want to taper no more than 10% every four weeks from the previous month's dose. The reductions will get smaller and smaller as time goes on. It's easier on the brain.

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg
