67th Effexor Update - Feeling Bad

July 21, 2026··
taper update
I haven't been feeling the greatest lately. I've been having more trouble sleeping and feel lethargic, depressed, and irritable. Last night I couldn't fall asleep so had to get up and eat some carbs. I hate having to eat so late at night, but I can always tell when I haven't eaten enough carbs. It's insane why my body reacts this way. I wish I could eat a low-carb diet because it keeps my weight down, but I need carbs in order to function and sleep. It's really depressing. I guess I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself right now. My taper is getting a bit more challenging the lower in dose I'm getting. I'm in this for the long haul though, so I have to endure the best I can. I will try to show myself some compassion and kindness today. One day at a time! I hope everyone else is hanging in there okay! Sending much love and support to all. 💝

Tapering a short half-life drug like this is pure survival at times, and I have so much respect for how you refuse to give up. The agony is real, but so is your resilience. Please don't give up on yourself.

@Catina I'm so sorry you are feeling bad. It's amazing how small drops can cause us to feel bad or cause strange symptoms sometimes. Praying you feel better soon! 🙏

Hi @Andrés Sánchez! Yes, Effexor can be a tricky one to taper but we just have to go very slowly. Thanks for your encouragement. 🩷

@Catina I really hope every day is better. I hear you. I'm not in Venlafaxine but bc I was given it while in the hospital and somehow my body kept away from it, unfortunately it wasn't the case with clonazapam. One day at a time.

Klonopin — 1,75mg — 6 months — actively tapering
