Starting to work

June 3, 2026··
taper update
I definitely need advice on this one. So, it's the first time I need to work after my most recent last year's withdrawal experiences. You know what's my situation from my updates. The thing is some meds are probably sedating me. So looking forward to the chance to work despite some worries about said ability to work. Because this work is intellectual. It is a responsibility for me. How would you tell when is the right time to work in the right manner? Do you folks just push through because you have to pay the bills? I have a small amount of state support. It's not much, but definitely keeps my stomach full.

Hi Wolf...I'm not really sure what exactly your duties are at work. You said it's intellectual, so I guess that would include cognitive ability. How do you feel you are doing in this area? Do you feel as though you would be able to handle your duties with the way your symptoms are now? Some people are able to handle their job even with some withdrawal symptoms. However, there are others that are completely unable to hold down a job. Some have had to apply for disability. I guess you would know when the right time would be if your symptoms are manageable enough to be able to handle your day-to-day responsibilities without too much difficulty. I understand you wanting to get back to work! Is it a high stress job? That would also be something to consider.

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg

Low-stress work in front of a computer, with writing programs, and yes it's likely that if I can handle almost all responsibilities then I am able to work in some half-time capacity. Hmm, yes the work does not require me to work necessarily full-time.

That sounds doable when you feel like you're up to it. 👍
