The need for terminological evolution to stop unnecessary spread of psychiatric medication use

May 15, 2026··

SSRIs and SSNRIs are contagious. They act recursively on populations due to their ability to activate social praise in a patient’s internal psychology. This is one function of its continued spread. "Contagious" is a word to describe SSRIs and SSNRIs that is not adopted by the medical community. I believe that this is an important insight that prescriber professionals should be exposed to. Changing the cultural narrative is becoming increasingly difficult as the prescription of these medications continues to grow in our communities. It is important more than ever that we have strong voices in our communities to help constructively impact the susceptibility of our global future.

Very good point. Theres term “antidepressant” is loaded as the drug does not “anti-depress” And as you said, when you receive praise for taking one, other people are more inclined to join the ssri group. Very insightful
